WARNING – HUGE POST! But there just was no other way to show it! You need to see allllll of them…. so here we go.
Senior Model Shoot, Day 2. I was super excited about this theme. Back in May, I had been over at a family member’s home for a party. I saw this vintage 1929 Ford Model A in the driveway and that got my wheels turning. I began to wonder if I could incorporate that into my senior model shoot. I wasn’t sure how I was gonna do it, but if I could get permission to use the car, I knew I could figure it out and make it amazing! His uncle generously agreed to drive the car to our location and I was so excited. I kept this big prop as a surprise for the girls and I am pretty sure they all thought it was awesome.
This car is special because it once belonged to my husband’s grandfather. It has many original elements – like the back roll down shade, original seat/coverings, paint, and ORIGINAL KEYS (which I think is the craziest part). I actually loved that it wasn’t repainted/restored because I love the color it is now & knew it was going to photograph really well.
Ok, enough about the car! More on the girls!
In May, they learned the theme of our shoot – “The 20’s Today”. I wanted to pull some class 1920s elements – including women’s fashion and jewelry – but I didn’t want it look to look costumey or stereotypical – a.k.a. – no flapper look. I am not a total fru-fru type person either – and wanted to keep the focus on the girls – so we went with more simple patterns and just brought in some art deco accessories to glam it up a bit. One girl is in advanced fashion design in school and actually designed and sewed her own dress! I love it when things like that happen because it just makes the whole thing so much more meaningful.
We lucked out and a perfect weather day with magical light. Couldn’t have planned it better myself!
Putting on their best serious looks…
And a few from behind the scenes, during hair and makeup time. Again, fabulous jobs by Brittany Jones and her team! THANK YOU!
I think we acheieved the goals from this styled session…. we all had an amazing time and were exhausted afterwards! I loved that the girls were up for anything and just went with the flow. I loved all of the special touches they added thru their hair and makeup, too.
What a memorable even this was not only for me, photography-wise, but especially for the senior girls. It has been a privilege to have them on my team this year and I couldn’t have asked for anything better!
