FINALLY! I’m caught up on posting all my shoots from spring and summer. On to the fall!
Here’s a huge photo-heavy post for the awesomeness that was our Fall PJP Senior Model Shoot! My goal of every senior shoot – whether with my team or individual seniors – is to have FUN. To capture GENUINE expression and convey AUTHENTICITY. I wanted to put an editorial touch on this shoot as well. And I am pretty sure we met all of those goals!
AND… did I mention I have a team of totally awesome, beautiful and confident girls this year??? I am so lucky!
Get ready to do some scrolling to see and read more about our fun day….
Something like this does not come together overnight. I came up with this concept back in May and revealed the theme to the girls. So what made me choose camping as our theme? Well, I originally saw some vintage camping signs and that got me thinking. Then after doing a little research, it looked like no one else had done this theme, and that totally sold me! I am all about doing things that are original and unique. There are just millions of ideas out there and it was fun to do something new. For any photographers reading this, I really encourage you to think outside of the box and not to copy someone else’s idea! How can your true voice and vision shine if you are just doing what someone else has already done? (More on that subject later!)
The girls were super excited and started working on their clothing over the summer. Since we were going for a laid back and casual look, the girls were able to create their looks without having to spend a lot of moo-lah. Some of the girls brought their own props – like the guitars – and I borrowed the tent from a friend (thanks, Cara!). Y’all should’ve seen the girls getting this tent up! They are tent-putting-up pros now!
When I look at these photos, I smile. It’s fun to be a part of something that builds relationships between girls who didn’t really know each other before. Honestly, when else in life will you have the opportunity to do something like this??? It’s fun to see their excitement over the different ideas and then seeing their excitement over the finished photos. It’s fun to see my vision come to life.
A couple weeks after the shoot, all of the girls came over to my home studio for the big image reveal. This is something I hadn’t done before, but it is definitely something I’ll do again! Their reactions to the images were priceless.
