Let’s get real here.
Oh, hey, it’s November. And I still haven’t blogged alllll of my spring sessions from earlier this year. To be honest, life just gets in the way of my blogging!!! It’s such a balancing act, trying to keep up both my personal and work life. I don’t just “do photography”. Y’all, this is my J-O-B! It’s so much more than a hobby. My hobby days ended in 2008 when I began accepting money in exchange for a shoot! My passion and love for it is still there, but I will be honest when I say the business side drags me down at times. If I wasn’t so crazy about photography in the first place, I might have given it up simply because of the stress!
But I love it. Can’t help it. How cool is it to have do something where “job” and “love” can be in the same sentence?
I get asked a lot about whether I work full time, part time, etc. That’s hard to answer because this work is so seasonal. I typically am slammed from March-June, and from Sept-Nov. In between times are spent updating my website, business collateral, tweaking things that have worked well or not so well, upgrading equipment or software, creating new forms and documents, possibly attending some type of continuing education, and the list goes on.
While I’m not in a period of downtime right now, I loved my spring sessions this year. They deserve to be blogged.
On to the good stuff now: The photos. Meet these sisters…. Claire and Lilly. Not sure I’ve ever done a sisters shoot that was quite this special. While they have a definite age gap between them, their relationship is so special and simply adorable. Check it out and see for yourself:
