It’s time to announce the winners of my first Best of 2014 photo contest! First of all, let me say that I was really blown away by all of the voting and participation. Sooooo many wonderful compliments were paid to the subjects in the photographs! It was really fun to read through all of the comments. Thank you to everyone out there for being a part of this!
The contest closed at 9pm last night, at which time I screenshot each of the images to record the number of likes, shares and comments up to that time. I only was able to count those likes, comments and shares that showed on my Photo Jewels page, because those are the only ones I can actually see in most cases. I was very careful in counting EVERYTHING on my page for each photo entry so things would be fair.
Here are the results after….
3.5 days of voting
FIRST PLACE ::: BEAU & SARAH!
They are the lucky winners of a completely free 30 minute session and 20 finished digital images!* (a $550 value)
This photo was taken in early March 2014 and was one (if not the very last) shot we took during their maternity session. Little man Raylan arrived in April & was one of the more alert newborns I have photographed. I love this particular image because I am a sucker for sunsets, silhouettes, and it was so perfect with the sun reflecting off the lake in just the exact right spot. One person commented on FB saying, “The sunset between mommy and daddy the little munchkin being their ray of sunshine!!” and I love that description. If I was going to have one maternity photo of myself, I would want it to be something just like this!
SECOND PLACE ::: KENZIE!
She is the lucky winner of a FREE 20×24 CANVAS GALLERY WRAP! (a $295 value)
This was taken in mid-November in 40 degree weather, but it couldn’t have turned out more perfectly, if you ask me! I love everything about this! You’d never know she was actually lying in a creekbed, pretty much soaked from mid-thigh down. I may have edited out a few chill bumps. Kenzie was seriously so tough during this, because I was freezing while standing there in boots, fleece pants and a jacket, and here she was in a spaghetti strap dress! Kenzie is one of my 2015 Senior Models this year, and I have really enjoyed getting to know her. I like to tease her a little about her type-a-ness…. although that is definitely a quality that will be a benefit to her. She is a good-hearted, strong-willed girl and I’m privileged to know her!
THIRD PLACE ::: MIRANDA
She is the lucky winner of a free 16×20 canvas! (a $250 value)
I loved shooting Miranda’s senior portraits because I truly enjoyed getting to meet this sweet, athletic girl and her family. Miranda was confident, sweet, polite, and mature in every encounter I had with her – and as a parent myself – I know that does not happen by accident! I love this shot of her on the staircase because I think it shows off her gorgeous grin so perfectly! Congrats Miranda!
FOURTH PLACE ::: HUDSON
Ok, so there wasn’t actually a 4th place, but this one was so close to being 2nd or 3rd place, that I wanted to do a little something. So, should Hudson’s mom decide to book another session for 2015, she will receive a complimentary $100 print credit to use following her shoot. Congrats, Hudson!
Oh, and I love photographing this little boy. I have photographed him several times and he just has the most adorable little personality, his mom dolls him up so cute, and he makes such funny faces.
A HUGE THANK YOU…. I mean really…. first of all, to these clients who hired me and allowed me to capture a certain special milestone in their life that they wanted to freeze, to remember forever. And then secondly, to everyone who participated. I was just shocked by the participation and I so appreciate y’all.
Reminder…. winners…. you may keep your gift for yourself, or you may gift it to someone else. During this season of giving, it’s up to you! 🙂
I have loved holding this contest and plan on it being an annual tradition! To be eligible for YOUR photo being in my contest, simply book a regular session with me in 2015 between January and Thanksgiving!
LASTLY, here’s one more look at all of the images that were up for voting:
